Packing

Birthday Double Rainbow

Today in Seattle it finally got really hot. The kind of hot that only happens twice a summer and stirs memories of being in Ohio without air conditioning. We are going to have a potentially record breaking heat wave in the next several days. I got Indian food for lunch in Pioneer Square and took the heat in stride. This is going to be my reality for the next six weeks. Being an August baby, I feel like I own the heat somehow, though I don't think my body remembers how to regulate its temperature.

I pretty much have everything packed, but I think I am going to try to thin it out once more before I leave. It is really challenging packing for two vastly different circumstances, yet trying to pack light and be prepared for everything. I really have no concept of what the temperature is going to be anywhere I'm traveling. Considering I am packing for August through December it is the potential for a real temperature swing. I am also carrying the better part of a drug store and half an REI. Add to that art and architecture supplies, a digital SLR, a laptop with all the trimmings, and I'm starting to realize that I've never packed for trip like this before. Do I really need all this stuff?

I came across a video from this guy again today (from Seattle), which always makes me happy. I don't think I could pull off the random dancing (and no way to take video), but I think I will try to collect "jumping pictures" like my pal Ane from Norway. I need to work on my vertical.
