into and out of the Johar

Wow! So I'm finally back in "civilization", Almora where you can find such wonderous things as the internet. We are on our way back to Sonapani from our long incredible trek into the Johar Valley. I'm on a time crunch, as usual, so I won't be able to give to many details or photos for a while...but in total we hiked over 70 miles, up to 12,000 feet, and I experienced my first earthquake (around 10 seconds). The mountians, people, architecture, everything was beyond anything I could have imagined. The food has been great, but we have long talks of peanutbutter and chocolate cake dreams. We have several days to wrap up our findings, and then back to Delhi where Ruchika and I will travel about (a list of places to come) and then to Italy!

One student took GPS readings along the way so far, here is how to access them.

(or something like that) I know it is a bit late, but you can see more clearly where I have been.

Wow! you didn't tell me about the earthquake the other night! Ten seconds is a good amount of time for those.
