My building started a P-patch behind a covered parking area out back. I'm now the custodian of a little patch of dirt, which I planted yesterday. I have four tomato plants - "Sweet Baby Girl" a short sweet red cherry tomato , "Paul Robeson" a black heirloom beefsteak tomato that is a deep purple red with dark green shoulders, and "Pineapple" a huge heirloom yellow beefsteak with red stripes. The fourth was a gift grown from an actual bought tomato, which may or may not give fruit depending on the variety. I was also given two red onions, six potatoes (2 purple, 3 red, 1 gold). I also planted from starts a heck of a lot of "Bandit" leeks. From seed I planted "Bolero" carrots and "Red Ace" beets.
In the back along the fence I added some large yellow "Aztec Gold" sunflowers and shorter red "Chianti".
I also planted herbs on my porch (mint, lemon balm, cilantro, sage, thyme, rosemary, and chives (from seed) along with mixed mesclun lettuce in window boxes. Basil to come.
I'm going to get some more flowers for the porch (or between the garden crops) probably after the quarter is done the first week of june, and my seeds have come up.
More photos to come!
